time flies. the sec1s orientation camp was over with just a blink of eye.
to be honest, i always feel uneasy when i am working with my batch mates. this group of 60 psls are all one year younger than me, but yet, the way they organised the event, the way they led the students, the way they boosted the spirit of others, etc etc. always impressed me.
i am an older person, yet i had to follow their instructions. not saying that this was shameful, just that i thought i could have done better to make my presence felt. the least, i should contribute ideas which the comm would take serious consideration.
throughout the whole camp, the Rafflesian spirit was truly shown among the psls.. i could feel how proud they are for being a rafflesian. almost all of them were trying their best to boost the spirit of the sec1s through the cheers. in the end, some of them even lost their voices. from what i saw, what they have done are not to no avail. how i wish i could also have this kind of spirit.
after jric, as always after all the events, emails were sent by the heads to show appreciation to the psls. during the camp, i somehow had no enthusiasm in helping. though, i was touched when i knew how proud were our year head and the principal of us.
what i didn't expect was my name appeared in the email. i was surprised as i didn't think that i had really helped much. i was excited, touched, happy, but yet, feeling guilty. "especially Cheng Yuen......." (just fyi, he spelt my name correctly :D)
somehow, i feel that i should not let anyone down and have to contribute more. now i realized that showing appreciation is always an incentive for someone to do better. with this enlightenment, i followed the way they always do and sent an email of appreciation to my badminton team after the farewell.
this farewell was planned weeks ago, though should have done planning months ago, and finally could be carried out during this tiring weekend. thus, the preparation was quite poor.
the screwed up part was the time management. at first we planned to proceed back to school at 4.15pm after pooling or bowling at marina square but in the end we only reached school in 6pm. when i heard that the rest wanted to skip the amazing race and go straight to sam lee's house, somehow i felt really sad. well, the amazing race was my idea. though it was not wonderful, i did spend a lot of time planning it. but we still carried on the activities in the end.
though i guess this farewell was not as fun as past years', i was still happy that i didn't screw the whole farewell up. anyway this was my first time organising such event, although it was not marvellous, it was still acceptable. hope they enjoyed it.
