I am skipping the first stage - PI, since it wasn't really difficult. In fact, it was nothing compared to what I am going through now.
This question kept popping out in my mind: Why is our group so awesome, but our GPP so screwed?" Perhaps, it has nothing to do with the people in the group...
At the very beginning of GPP, all of us had come to a consensus that we are embarking on a project related to environmental conflict. Be it related to conservation of a natural habitat, conservation of biodiversity, etc... This was not easy at all. We had been, in fact, are still changing our topic (this is the last week before the deadline for GPP), from environment to foreign worker back to environment again. Just within the topic of environmental conflict itself, we had spent hours and hours researching on different case studies (TR1 AND TR2): Allagash Waterway, Chek Jawa, Sembawang Beach, Pulau Ubin, etc. We even tried to move on to animals: Hornbill, Thrasher, etc. But none of these was approved by Mr Koh.
Now, our group is steeped in despair, with no direction, no motivation, nothing...
Our teacher met us today, wanting to find out what has gone wrong for our group. He was being frank with us, telling us that: he thinks that we are trying to 'fish' ideas info CS etc out of him; he was also frustrated because our group seems to be not interested, we cannot answer the questions thrown by him, our GPP very vague, we are not clear of what we are doing (though he said he wants to have a consult with us which he can be engaged in it); and the deadline is around the corner while our group still has nothing -> zero...
Perhaps we are really very not engaging during the consultation, always have a blank face, that's why he thought we didn't do our research well and are trying to 'coax' the ideas out of him. I have no idea whether this is true, but at least I know that that's not what I want. Even though he did give us some ideas (CSs), but I always told my group that as long as there is other things that we can do, I'd rather not do what is given by him. Perhaps this is just a matter of pride, I don't want him to think that our group is pathetic, our group is useless, nor do I want his sympathy.
True, our group has been insisting on this topic "Environment", and when we really can't do anything about it, I know that we should not be so stubborn, we should just choose another topic and move on. What he said today was really demoralising. He gave us this idea on "bullies", not forgetting to add: "...this is environment also, school environment..." I really couldn't stand the sarcasm...
Everyone of us in the group is really dying now.. ARGGH! What should we do?! Someone gotta save us... Please...
Sigh... Tomorrow is GP CT and I am still blogging... Pathetic...
Argh~ Good luck for tomorrow GP.. がんばって!
