The Music Box - SUTD Dance Production'16

9.4.16

Hmmm I don't know where to begin ...

Well, The Music Box was over last night, and DDz chat exploded. I don't know what to feel now. Happy? Relief? or Sad?

One thing I am gonna be sure: I will miss the DDz peeps :'( Ever since the start of this term, I have been seeing them almost every single day. And BAM, I won't be seeing them as a club till two weeks later.. Throughout this concert preparation, I got to get closer to a lot of them and I really appreciate such opportunity. Sometimes I hope the concert ends, but sometimes, I hope the D-day never came.

Not only with the DDz peeps, but also with the dance community. "I wanna try this dance next time, and that!" I was being skeptical with the CDC initially, but looking back now, I think it was the right thing to do. I feel that throughout this period, the dance community in our school has got a lot stronger. And not just as individual clubs but as a community. And we get to know people from other clubs! This is a very nice feeling to have! :)

We have been practicing really hard, from one item one session per week to 3 sessions for the same item per week, and we even had an overnight prac! Like Marcus said, this is gonna be a memory that you will carry to your grave (ok I paraphrased this) because how often do you stay up throughout the night not for work but for something that you like with someone that shares your passion? And indeed, I will definitely treasure this memory.

6am inviting people to come for the concert

Throughout these 6 months, Marcus really pushed us a lot and taught us a lot of things not just to become a better dancer, but also in the outlook of life. I always wonder, how can he always be so optimistic? How can his EQ be so high? Sometimes I can't imagine that he is only a year older than me ..

Hmmm I probably have a lot more to say about pre-concert ... but my brain is going too fast that my typing speed can't catch up and whatever that I have thought of already faded from my mind :/ Sooo... let's move on to post-concert!

Thank you for everyone who came down to support! It really means a lot to us as dancers to see people coming down to support us. IT WAS FULL HOUSE!!! HUGE SUCCESS!!! We feel that all our effort has finally paid off! Though I was slightly disappointed that my friends couldn't come to support me, but I was really really glad that my family came down to support me! :') Uh just realised Kelly didn't send me the photos we took after concert.. hmm will probably update later when she finally remembers to send me.

lunch today before family goes back to their respective countries
My retarded friends - Adi and Glen. Thanks for coming to support!

KY and Pig. Thanks for coming!
Next, thanks the committee for making this happen! Special mention to Isha - the project director- who started this! There were hell lots of problems and worries prior to the concert but HEY it happened and ended with a BANG! Kudos and great job!

Creative Comm - Isha, Kim, me, Shoba, Sean, WC
Next, fellow dancers! Whether you are in 8-bit Escape (Video Games), Losing Control (Violence), or Circus of the Mind (Depression), great job everybody! We felt each other on stage and know that everybody was giving their best! I will really miss dancing with yall!

Chai - Fellow Poker Players!

Circus of the Mind - Depression

8-bit Escape (Video Games)
Losing Control (Violence)

And of course! Special mentions to our main leads Reub and Dee! We are really glad to have chosen the two of them as the main leads because honestly I couldn't imagine who else could have done better than them! And Cheuk and I had the honour to choreograph for them for the last item of the concert! When I was watching them dancing on stage, I really felt very proud! HAHA PROUD PARENT MOMENT!

Managed to take this photo before concert started. Missing Cheuk because she was selling flowers at the door. She is gonna kill me if she sees this ;P
Cheuk - Fellow choreographers for the last item named "The Music Box"
Some more photos:

Kratos Pride! Missing Enyan and Huishan who were having duty on stage and in the control room.

Thanks for giving me the chance to shine on stage and be part of the amazing dances:

Circus of the Mind - I was hidden somewhere behind

Poker in 8-bit Escape - Yup that's me
As the concert comes to an end, my term as the dance capt of DDz also comes to an end (tho haven't done a proper handover). I am really curious and excited to know how DDz will become in the few years to come under Marcus's guidance.

Well, time to get back to all the school work and projects that I am lagging behind! :(

ps: I thought I have a lot more to write than this but ... I will attach the videos here once it is up!
